The Amphenol USB Field system enables the use of standard USB 2.0 connections in harsh environments. It provides sealing against fluids and dust (IP67), resistance to shock, vibration, and traction, and eliminates the need for field cabling operations or tools. Featuring mechanical coding/polarization and improved EMI protection, this system transforms standard USB cordsets into robust connectors. The metallic plug protects the USB cordset from environmental hazards and shocks. Coupling is achieved via a Tri-Start Thread mechanism (MIL-DTL-38999 series III type) with an anti-decoupling device for high vibration resistance. Receptacles offer a solderable PCB with either a USB-A receptacle or 4 tined holes for wire termination. Shielding is maintained through grounding fingers and conductive plated shells for outstanding EMI protection. Ideal for embedded computers and data acquisition in demanding sectors such as railways, battlefield communication systems, and navy systems.
