Technical Information
Order Information: Backshells of cable connectors are available in different colors upon request. Minimum order quantity is 1000 pcs. per type. Order numbers do not include crimp contacts; please order separately.
Mechanical Coding: Achieved by special coding pins inserted into contact cavities. Minimum order quantity is 1000 pcs. per type.
Screw Termination: Screw clamps are designed according to EN 60999-1/VDE 06095.1. Chart 1 shows screw size depending on wire size and required clamping/testing torque. Diagram 1 shows tensile strength range for a screw connection with M3 clamp screw at 50 Ncm torque.
Crimp Termination Assembly: A non-detachable electrical connection produced with crimp technology. Precise crimping dies matched to the crimp barrel and wire size ensure a reliable connection. Advantages include efficient termination and reproducible results. Requirements are defined in IEC 60352 Part 2 / DIN EN 60352 Part 2. Diagram 2 shows required minimum tensile strength for open and closed barrels based on wire size. Use released crimp tools and approved insertion/extraction tools.
Degree of Protection (IP Code): Indicated by IP rating (e.g., IP65). The first numeral indicates protection against solid objects and access to hazardous parts, while the second numeral indicates protection against water ingress. See Charts 3 and 4 for detailed definitions.
Remarks / Safety Classification
These connectors are designed and produced in conformity with the Low Voltage Directive (73/23/EWG) and relevant safety laws and standards (DIN EN 61984 / IEC 61984, IEC 60664-1, IEC 60529). They may only be used within their technical ratings. All technical data refer to mated connectors under live conditions. Safety depends on correct product selection, proper assembly, and precise fit. Connectors with/without breaking capacity must be used according to specified ratings. Rated data are based on overvoltage category III and pollution degree 3 for electronic applications unless otherwise stated. Connectors must be completely mated. Selection and testing for specific product or industrial requirements are the user's responsibility. Protection against electrical shock is secured by correct mounting. Coding options can prevent incorrect mating. Ensure correct mating and proper screw tightening torque. Cable connectors are secured using strain relief. Cable properties must be compatible with the connector design. Designated wire conductors must be terminated correctly. Crimp contacts must be fully inserted, and strain relief assured. Wire stripping must be accurate to prevent electrical contact between conductors and avoid nicked or cut strains.
