Product Overview
The 29-position SAS receptacle and plug connectors enable the implementation of the high-speed, Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) hard disk drive (HDD) interface, which is replacing the SCSI drive connection in enterprise storage applications within servers and storage systems. These connectors conform to SFF8482 and SFF8680 standards and are capable of meeting data transfer rates up to 12Gb/s. The SAS connector system is engineered to support hot plugging and blind mating of HDDs, featuring staggered contact lengths for sequential mating and guide posts for angled lead-in to compensate for connector misalignment, ensuring self-alignment during the mating process. Many connectors also include stamped retention clips for robust PCB attachment, and wide-base housing options are available on vertical backplane receptacles for enhanced stability. The high-speed serial interface supports differential signaling, evolving from 3Gb/s to 12Gb/s. SAS receptacles are compatible with both SAS and SATA drives, offering system manufacturers flexibility in deploying cost-effective SATA drives for bulk storage or higher-performance SAS drives for mission-critical applications.
